Hydrangea pruning isn't difficult, it very much depends on the weather and variety.

Mopheads and Lacecaps are best pruned in mid-spring as they begin to grow, removing old flowerheads, any dead or damaged stems.  On established plants remove, 10-20% of the older stems, cutting these back to ground level.

Paniculata and Arborescens prune in early spring before buds emerge. Remove any dead wood and weak thin growth, then cut back all of last year's growth to two buds as plants will flower on this year's growth.

Other plants to consider pruning now are  Fuchsias, Rosemary, Caryopteris, Perovskia, Lavatera.
